The Consulate General of India, Frankfurt honored Assamese, Bengali, Marathi, Pali, and Prakrit as Classical Languages on November 8, 2024.

On November 8, 2024, the Consulate General of India in Frankfurt commemorated the awarding of the Classical Language status to Assamese, Bengali, Marathi, Pali, and Prakrit. Members of the Indian community, especially those who speak these languages in the states of Assam, West Bengal, and Maharashtra, attended the event.

In his introductory remarks, Consul General Mr. B.S. Mubarak congratulated the Indian community members on this milestone and emphasized the value of mother tongue in daily life.

Speakers from Indian states and areas that speak Bengali, Assamese, and Marathi offered their perspectives on the rich history, development, and legacy of these languages.
