The Embassy of India in Oslo, in collaboration with SME Norway, organised “India–Norway: Weaving New Opportunities” on 4 November 2026, highlighting business, trade and investment opportunities for Indian textile and apparel products in the Norwegian market under the India–EFTA Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA).
Addressing the gathering, Ambassador of India to Norway, H.E. Mrs. Gloria Gangte, encouraged Norwegian companies to explore India not just as a sourcing destination but also as a strategic partner in manufacturing, innovation and investment. With investment opportunities worth approximately US$100 billion identified across India’s textile value chain by 2030, India offers significant potential for strengthening bilateral business partnerships.
The programme featured insightful presentations and discussions by Mr. Yousuf Gilani, Chair of the Board, SME Norway; Mr. Marius A. Nilsen, Member of the Norwegian Parliament; Mr. Christian Valdez Carter, Innovation Norway; Mr. Åsmund Prytz, SME Norway; Ms. Trisha Shenoy, Fairtrade; and Ms. Kari Setsaas, Norsk Dun. The speakers shared valuable perspectives on trade opportunities, market potential, industry collaboration and sustainable business practices.
A major highlight of the event was the launch of the market study titled “Opportunities for Indian Textile and Apparel Products in the Norwegian Market,” commissioned by the Embassy of India. The study aims to provide insights into the Norwegian market and identify opportunities for Indian textile and apparel businesses.
The initiative marks an important step towards strengthening India–Norway economic cooperation, expanding textile and apparel trade, and fostering new avenues for sustainable business partnerships under the India–EFTA TEPA.
