The Embassy of India in Hungary, in collaboration with the Amrita Sher-Gil Cultural Centre, Budapest, invites literature enthusiasts to a special poetry evening exploring the influence of Indian thought and culture on the works of William Butler Yeats, one of the most celebrated poets of modern literature.
The event will bring together distinguished members of the diplomatic, academic and literary communities to explore Yeats’s poetic legacy and examine how his works have been received and interpreted in Hungary and India.
The programme will feature a poetry recital by renowned poet Paul Muldoon, welcome addresses by the Ambassadors of India and Ireland to Hungary, and a keynote lecture by Dr Győző Ferencz, Professor Emeritus, poet and literary historian. Hungarian and Indian participants will also present poetry readings, followed by a panel discussion titled “Yeats as Seen in Hungary and India.”
