Hon’ble EAM Concludes Productive Brussels Visit Reinforcing India EU Strategic Partnership

Hon’ble External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar concluded a productive visit to Brussels, engaging with the European Union Foreign Affairs Council, and calling on António Costa, President of the European Council, and Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission.

He also held talks with EU HRVP Kaja Kallas, alongside meetings with EU counterparts and several bilateral discussions.

Key takeaways from these engagements include:

The finalization of the India–EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA) will mark a major turning point—unlocking economic potential and reinforcing the strategic depth of the partnership.
Both sides will actively support trade and investment promotion to ensure tangible outcomes of the FTA on the ground.
The Trade and Technology Council (TTC) can be further strengthened to drive collaboration in critical and emerging technologies.
Shared focus on de-risking supply chains and enhancing resilience, with the FTA enabling stronger business linkages.
Mobility of talent remains a priority, with initiatives like the Legal Gateway Office and promotion of Global Capability Centers (GCCs) in India gaining momentum.
Advancing the Security and Defence Partnership, including early conclusion of the Security of Information Agreement.
Strengthening connectivity initiatives, including efforts to operationalize IMEC and related projects.
Commitment to upholding and strengthening multilateralism amid evolving global challenges.
Deepening the Strategic Partnership through regular high-level engagements and domain-specific cooperation mechanisms.
In an increasingly multipolar and uncertain world, the India–EU partnership stands as a pillar of stability and resilience.

The visit reaffirmed the shared vision of India and the European Union to build a robust, future-oriented partnership across diverse sectors.
