The Embassy of India celebrated International Women’s Day in collaboration with the British & Commonwealth Chamber of Commerce in Finland and Indian Women in Finland under the theme ‘Accelerate Action’. This event highlighted the importance of gender equality, women’s empowerment, and the need for urgent, sustained efforts to break barriers and create opportunities for women across all sectors of society.
The event was graced by the presence of Ambassador of India Sh. Hemant H. Kotalwar, who delivered an inspiring keynote address, emphasizing the crucial role women play in driving progress and innovation. His speech underscored the contributions of Indian women both in India and abroad, as well as the longstanding ties between India and Finland in promoting shared values such as equality, inclusion, and mutual respect.
Adding to the significance of the event, Finnish Member of Parliament Tuula Haatainen also delivered a keynote address. A well-known advocate for gender equality in Finland, she spoke on the advancements and ongoing challenges women face globally. Her address focused on Finland’s efforts to promote gender equality, particularly in politics, the workforce, and leadership roles, encouraging further collaboration between Finland and India in these areas.
