The Deutsch-Indische Gesellschaft e.V, Essen in collaboration with the City of Essen and Volkhochschule Essen organized an event to commemorate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and 70 years of India-Germany diplomatic relations, in #Essen. The India Day presented a fascinating cultural diversity of India with a classical sitar recital as well as dances from all across the length and breadth of India.
The event was graced by Hon’ble Mayor of Essen Ms Julia Jacob who underlined the long association of Essen with India as some of the first migrants from India came and settled in Essen. She also mentioned about the friendship tree planted at the Gruga park as a lasting symbol of India-Germany partnership.
Speaking at the occasion, Consul General thanked the City Council of Essen under Hon’ble Lord Mayor Thomas Kufen for their constant support to the Indian community in Essen, underlining that the community is the strongest bridge connecting the two countries and cultures.
