Operation Sindoor
Date Launched: May 6, 2025
Context: Launched in retaliation to the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, 2025, which killed 26 civilians (25 Indians and 1 Nepali).
Objective: To dismantle terror infrastructure used by groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) operating from Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).
Execution and Targets
A joint operation by the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force.
Carried out precision strikes using guided munitions without violating Pakistani airspace.
- Nine terror camps targeted, including:
- Markaz Subhan Allah (Bahawalpur, JeM)
- LeT Camp (Muridke & Kotli)
- Bilal Camp (JeM)
- Hizbul Mujahideen camp (Mehmoona, near Sialkot)
- Gulpur, Sawai, Sarjal, and Barnala camps
Aftermath
India: Called the strikes “measured, focused, and non-escalatory” with no targeting of Pakistani military assets.
Pakistan: Claimed civilian casualties and accused India of aggression, alleging the downing of Indian jets.
International Response: Global leaders and the UN urged both nations to maintain restraint and avoid escalation.
