One Community#One Dream(Serving the community) #One Dachverband #One Voice.

1. The Original Idea: One Community#One Dream(Serving the community) #One Dachverband #One Voice.

Started with a simple and powerful idea: one Dream (serving the community )  one Dachverband .Normally, there should be only one Dachverband — one umbrella body that represents the community, brings the Vereine together, and gives the community a united voice.

The idea is simple:

  • Many associations.
  • Many people.
  • Many backgrounds.

But one common platform.

A Dachverband should be built to serve the community.

It should exist to strengthen the collective voice of the community, protect shared interests, and create a platform where Vereine can work together with dignity, transparency, and trust.

2. The Reality: Many Dreams Enter the Journey

In reality, the journey is not always simple. When a Dachverband is being formed, many dreams come together. Some of these dreams are positive and community-oriented. But some dreams are personal, strategic, or driven by individual ambition.

  • Some dream of building business connections through it.
  • Some already have an NGO, but may also have business interests behind it.
  • Some dream of becoming founders.
  • Some dream of using it to launch their political career.
  • Some dream of being permanently visible on stage.
  • Some dream of becoming the face of the community.
  • Some dream of building direct connections to political leadership in India or Germany.
  • Some dream of receiving recognition, titles, invitations, and photo opportunities.
  • Some dream of controlling the structure.
  • Some dream of deciding who should be included and who should remain outside.
  • Some dream of not allowing one common Dachverband to emerge, because they may lose influence when one united structure is created.

Dreams, dreams, and more dreams.

And of course, some genuinely dream of using the Dachverband to move important community topics forward.

3. Dreams Are Important — But Which Dreams?

Dreams are important. Dreams create motivation, energy, commitment, and the courage to start something. Without dreams, no one would volunteer, organise, build, or take responsibility. But there is a major difference between a personal dream and a community dream.

A personal dream asks:

What can I become through this platform?”

A personal dream looks for visibility, position, influence, recognition, or access.

A community dream asks:

“What can the community achieve through this platform?”

A community dream looks for unity, service, structure, representation, and long-term benefit.

This difference decides the future of the Dachverband.

4. The Transition Phase: From One Dream to Many Dreams

The original journey started with:

  • One Community.
  • One Dream(Serving the community).
  • One Dachverband.
  • One Voice.

But in the transition phase, many personal dreams can enter the process. When these dreams become stronger than the collective mission, the original idea starts to fragment.

Instead of building one dachverband, different groups may begin to create their own versions.

  • Every group may start believing that its own structure is the correct one.
  • Every ambition may create its own organisation.
  • Every disagreement may become a new platform.
  • Every fear of losing control may create resistance to unity.

This is how the journey can shift to:

  • One Community.
  • Many Dream(Personal, Serving the community).
  • Many Dachverband.
  • Many Voice.

5. Different Approaches During the Transition Phase

During the transition phase, different Dachverband may also begin to follow very different approaches and philosophies.

1. Focus on Representation, Not Internal Conflict

Some may become heavily focused on internal conflicts and power struggles. For example, there may be attempts to launch legal cases against community leaders or Verein representatives.

However, the real purpose of a Dachverband should not be to fight internal community battles. Its primary role should be to represent the community externally, strengthen cooperation between Vereine, and address larger collective topics that affect the wider community.

A Dachverband should act as a platform for representation, coordination, and unity — not as an instrument for internal division.

2. Non-Interference in the Independent Functioning of Vereine

Another important principle is non-interference in the independent functioning of Vereine.

For example, if a temple or Verein needs financial support, the fundraising should ideally happen directly between the community and the temple or Verein itself at the appropriate time.

The role of a Dachverband should be to support visibility, coordination, and awareness if needed — not to position itself as the controller or middle layer for every community activity.

Community institutions should remain independent, and support should reach them directly and transparently, without unnecessary intermediaries.

The strength of a Dachverband should come from enabling and connecting the community, not from controlling every activity within it.

3. Strengthening Existing Community Efforts Instead of Duplicating Them

Another important approach during the transition phase is avoiding unnecessary duplication.

For example, if a petition or community initiative has already been created by a Verein, community group, or individuals, the role of a Dachverband should not be to create a competing parallel petition simply for visibility or ownership.

Instead, the Dachverband should strengthen, amplify, and support the existing effort if it already serves the community purpose effectively.

A strong Dachverband should unite and consolidate community efforts wherever possible, rather than fragmenting them into multiple parallel campaigns.

This difference decides the future of the Dachverband.

5. The Final Direction: One dream (Serving the community),One Dachverband.

The final Dachverband that survives will not be the one that fulfils every personal dream.

The real goal must be to return from:

  • One Community.
  • Many Dream(Personal, Serving the community).
  • Many Dachverband.
  • Many Voice.

back to:

  • One Community.
  • One Dream(Serving the community).
  • One Dachverband.
  • One Voice.

Indischer Dachverband Deutschland (IDD) Begins Building a National Framework for the Indian Community.

Build on the foundation of

  • One Community .
  • One Dream (Serving the community).
  • One Dachverband.
  • One Voice.

IDD moves to next step of forming an Executive Board which can Democratic elect 7-member Core Board.

Formation of an Executive Board

A key element of the proposed structure is the creation of an Executive Board (EB), which is expected to serve as the central decision-making body of the Dachverband during its formative stage.

Each participating Verein is being invited to nominate two representatives to join the Executive Board, ensuring that organizations have direct participation in shaping the future structure and governance model.

this approach is intended to create balanced representation and collective ownership across participating Vereine.

Democratic Elections Planned

Once the Executive Board is constituted, the next milestone will be the organization’s first democratic elections.

These elections are expected to select a 7-member Core Board, which would then assume responsibility for the long-term leadership and direction of the Dachverband.

the emphasis on elections and structured governance is intended to ensure transparency, accountability, and broad-based participation from the community.

Invitation to Vereine Across Germany

Community organizations and Vereine interested in participating in the initiative are being invited to nominate representatives and become part of the Executive Board formation process.
