A group of ten research scholars from the Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (KUFOS) has arrived in Norway for a three-month hands-on training program at NOFIMA, the country’s premier institute for fisheries research. They were warmly welcomed at the airport by Ms. Liz Jacqueline, Second Secretary at the Indian Embassy in Oslo.
The group consists of Ph.D. scholars Nayanthara, Naveen Nivas, Abhinaya Rajendran, Ravikumar, Ravi Sharath Bhai, Fatima Ashraf, Roop Rajan, Chinnu Ramanan, Gokula Gopinath, and their faculty mentor, Safina M. Pium.
This academic exchange program is part of a strategic partnership between KUFOS and NOFIMA, initiated to boost Indo-Norwegian collaboration in fisheries research. The initiative was conceptualized during Kerala Chief Minister Shri Pinarayi Vijayan’s 2022 visit to Norway. Over the next three months, the scholars will gain practical exposure to Norway’s advanced research in areas such as fish biology, disease management, and sustainable fisheries.
