Secretary Ministry of Steel Mr. Sandeep Poundrik, accompanied by CMDs NMDC, SAIL and MOIL, and Counsellor Embassy of India in Sweden, on 26 August 2026, paid field visits to Alleima and Greeniron in Sandviken and OVAKO in Hofors, Sweden.
At Alleima, the delegation explored advanced materials, high-performance alloys and innovative solutions supporting energy-efficient and sustainable industrial applications. The engagement reaffirmed the scope for greater IndiaโSweden 
collaboration in specialty steels, advanced materials, clean technologies and industrial innovation.

The interaction highlighted the importance of technology innovation, hydrogen-based processes and efficient resource utilisation in accelerating the global green transition in the steel sector.
At Ovako site, the visit highlighted opportunities for knowledge exchange and industrial cooperation between the two countries in energy efficiency, hydrogen-based production, recycling and sustainable specialty steels. Also explored advanced steel production technologies and initiatives aimed at reducing the carbon footprint of steelmaking.
