German Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s First Official Visit to 🇮🇳 India — Strengthening Strategic Ties (12–13 Jan 2026)

New Delhi, India — H.E. Chancellor Friedrich Merz of the Federal Republic of Germany is set to pay an official two-day visit to India on 12–13 January 2026 at the invitation of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.  MEA India

🔹 This marks Chancellor Merz’s first official visit to India since assuming office. MEA India
🔹 He will be warmly received by PM Modi in Ahmedabad on January 12 and will also travel to Bengaluru as part of the visit itinerary. MEA India

The leaders will:
✨ Review the progress of the India-Germany Strategic Partnership, which recently completed 25 years. MEA India
✨ Focus on deepening cooperation in trade, investment, technology, education, skilling & mobility. MEA India
✨ Advance collaboration in defence & security, science & innovation, green & sustainable development, and people-to-people ties. MEA India
✨ Engage with business and industry leaders to discuss regional and global issues of mutual importance. MEA India

This visit reinforces the forward-looking partnership between India and Germany, creating new avenues for shared growth and prosperity for both nations and the global community
