Union Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman met Mr. Masato Kanda on the sidelines of the 58th Annual Meeting of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in Milan, Italy, today.
During the meeting, the Finance Minister highlighted India’s commitment to private sector-led economic growth. She underscored the government’s continued efforts to build a supportive policy and regulatory environment through landmark initiatives such as the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC), corporate tax reductions, implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST), Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes, the National Infrastructure Pipeline (NIP), Gati Shakti National Master Plan, and Startup India. These reforms aim to enhance the Ease of Doing Business in India.
Smt. Sitharaman also encouraged ADB to explore piloting innovative financing products and models in India, emphasizing the country’s openness to collaboration.
Mr. Masato Kanda reaffirmed ADB’s strong support for India’s development agenda, in alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047.
