At the VI IMBRICS plenary conference in St. Petersburg, DCM Shri Nikhilesh Giri discussed the importance of interregional and intermunicipal collaboration for the BRICS nations’ economic growth.
VI IMBRICS refers to the 6th International Municipal Forum of BRICS, a key event held in Moscow in 2024. This forum facilitates discussions between municipal leaders, businesses, and other stakeholders from BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) as well as other partner nations. It focuses on promoting technological, economic, and social development at the municipal level.
The forum’s objectives include knowledge exchange, fostering international cooperation, and encouraging the adoption of modern technologies across cities in BRICS nations. Specific areas of interest include urban development, information technology, transport, and social infrastructure. It also highlights partnerships between cities in these countries to address global challenges and drive sustainable development initiatives.
The event is supported by the Russian government and several key organizations, including the Moscow Chamber of Commerce, and features representatives from over 500 cities worldwide. It is seen as a platform to boost international business ties and municipal-level cooperation.
