The Consul General visited the Institute of Textile Technology (ITA) at RWTH Aachen University and met with Prof. Dr. Thomas Gries, Director of the International Centre for Sustainable Textiles; Dr. Shantanu Bhat, Head of Composite Production and India Affairs; and Mr. Malhar Gaikwad, Research Assistant.
ITA, RWTH Aachen University has decades-long strategic partnerships with leading Indian institutions, including IIT Madras, IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay and the Ahmedabad Textile Industry’s Research Association (ATIRA). Discussions focused on expanding industry-academia collaboration and further strengthening student exchange programmes between 🇮🇳 and 🇩🇪.
A key highlight of the visit was the presentation of an ongoing Indo-German collaborative project on the manufacturing of composite hydrogen tanks (COPVs) for hydrogen mobility, being jointly undertaken with IIT Bombay—underscoring shared commitments to innovation, sustainability, and future-ready mobility solutions.
