Dear friends,
As you may know, April 14, 2016 is the 125th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna, Dr. B.R.Ambedkar. This day is a public holiday in India when the whole country pays homage to its great son.
Dr. Ambedkar was an economist, professor and lawyer. He was an alumni of the Columbia University and the London School of Economics. In his later life, he became involved in campaigning and negotiating for India’s independence, publishing journals advocating political rights and social freedom for Dalits, and contributing significantly to the establishment of the state of India. He was the principal architect of the Constitution of India.
To pay tribute to Dr. Ambedkar, the Consulate General of India is organizing a lecture through PowerPoint by Prof. Dr. Renate Syed, an admirer of Dr. Ambedkar and a renowned Indologist at the Ludwig Maximilian University, Munich The event is scheduled to take place at Consulate’s premises on April 14, 2016 (Thursday) at 4.30 PM followed by light refreshments. The lecture will be in English and will last for 45 minutes.
