At least 40 people died in an airplane accident in Moscow on May 5, Video shows passenger jet make emergency landing while being on fire at Sheremetyovo International Airport in Moscow. Technical reasons after takeoff and it made a hard landing that ignited a fire. The death toll was raised from 13, announced earlier. The flight bound for Murmansk had 73 passengers and five crew members; at least two children were reported among the dead. Dramatic video footage from the scene shows the aircraft speeding down a runway as it is engulfed by flames; an inflatable evacuation slide is unfurled for desperate passengers to escape.
