Interactive Session on India-Denmark Green Strategic Partnership and India-EU FTA
The Embassy of India in Copenhagen organised an interactive session with Indian legal experts visiting Copenhagen to participate in an international conference, along with distinguished members of the Danish legal and business community. The session provided an engaging platform to exchange perspectives on the India-Denmark Green Strategic Partnership and the India-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA), with particular focus on the growing role of legal expertise in strengthening trade and commercial engagement.
In his opening remarks, Ambassador Manish Prabhat highlighted the expanding India-Denmark relationship under the framework of the Green Strategic Partnership. He noted that the India-EU FTA would significantly contribute to removing barriers and facilitating greater trade and commercial relations between India and the European Union. He also underlined the increasing need for specialised expertise in areas such as international law, arbitration and intellectual property (IP) to support the growing economic partnership.
Mr Christian Lundblad, Ombudsman of the Parliament of Denmark, spoke about the growing importance of legal professionals in facilitating and strengthening international trade relations. He highlighted India’s increasing political and economic significance and encouraged Danish businesses to further explore opportunities for engagement and collaboration with India.
Ambassador Ove Ullerup, Chairman, Asia House, reflected on the long-standing India-Denmark relationship and recalled the historic role played by the East Asiatic Company in developing trade ties with India. He emphasised the importance of greater interaction and connectivity between legal professionals from both countries in view of the expanding trade and economic partnership.
Mr Mattias Dinnetz, Senior Advisor, Danish Patent and Trademark Office (DKPTO), shared insights into India-Denmark cooperation in the field of intellectual property. He highlighted DKPTO’s collaboration with the Ministry of MSME, Government of India, particularly in promoting awareness and understanding of intellectual property rights among India’s MSME sector.
Mr Arvind Nayar, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India, appreciated the opportunity to interact with fellow legal practitioners and Danish experts. He expressed his appreciation to the Embassy of India for providing a valuable platform for professional exchange and closer interaction between legal experts from India and Denmark.
The session underscored the importance of legal cooperation, professional exchange and institutional linkages in supporting the growing India-Denmark and India-EU trade and economic partnerships.
