Indians in the UK joined High Commission of India, London to mark the Foundation Day of 10 States — Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Rajasthan, Tripura & Uttar Pradesh, along with International Mother Language Day and 150 years of Vande Mataram.
High Commissioner Vikram Doraiswami highlighted India’s unparalleled achievement in institutionalizing diversity through its states at an extraordinary scale. He encouraged celebrating our distinct identities, exploring every corner of India, and taking pride in local and indigenous heritage in the most inclusive spirit.
The programme featured a group rendition of Vande Mataram commemorating 150 years of its composition, along with an engaging dialogue on the role of mother languages in preserving indigenous culture and bridging generations. Cultural performances brought India’s vibrant traditions alive — from Bihu (Assam) and Bhojpuri songs (Bihar) to Himachali Naati, Rajasthani music, and Braj folk dance from Uttar Pradesh
