EU–India Free Trade Agreement: A Historic Milestone

Belgium’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Affairs and Development Cooperation, Maxime Prévot, hailed the conclusion of the EU–India Free Trade Agreement as a historic moment—the most significant trade deal ever signed between the two partners.

The agreement delivers €4 billion in tariff reductions and connects a market of nearly 2 billion people, representing close to one-quarter of global GDP. Highlighting the immense potential confirmed during Belgium’s economic mission to India last year, he reaffirmed Belgium’s readiness—as a major exporting nation and long-standing investor in India—to fully leverage the opportunities created by this landmark deal.
