Ambassador Saurabh Kumar attended the Special Last Post Ceremony at the iconic #MeninGate in #Ieper, held to mark the 107th Anniversary of the End of the First World War. The ceremony paid solemn tribute to all the soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice, including the thousands of Indian soldiers who fought with exceptional bravery on the battlefields of Flanders.
In remembrance of their service, Ambassador Kumar joined dignitaries, veterans, and attendees in paying homage under the hallowed arches of the Menin Gate, where the names of the fallen are inscribed as a permanent reminder of their courage and commitment.
He reflected on the extraordinary contribution of Indian soldiers, who, despite being far from home, displayed unparalleled valour, discipline, and resilience during the Great War. The ceremony also served as a reminder of the shared history and enduring bonds between India and Belgium, forged through sacrifice and solidarity in times of conflict.
The Last Post bugle call, sounded as the evening air filled with remembrance, reaffirmed a collective pledge — to honour the fallen, to preserve peace, and to learn from the past so that such global tragedies are never repeated.
