📍 Odissi Dance Performance – Nicosia | 2 July 2025
A mesmerising evening unfolded at the historic Pallas Theatre in Nicosia with the grand finale of the Odissi dance performance, organised by the High Commission of India in Cyprus 🇮🇳 in collaboration with @ICCR.
The event was graced by Ms. Irene Piki (@PikiIrene), Deputy Minister to the President @Christodulides, who attended as the Chief Guest. Over 170 guests—including diplomats, dignitaries, students, and cultural enthusiasts—gathered to experience the spiritual and artistic brilliance of the classical Odissi tradition.
High Commissioner Mr. Manish spoke on the longstanding cultural ties between India and Cyprus, highlighting the role of such events in fostering deeper mutual understanding and friendship.
The evening showcased five captivating pieces performed by renowned Odissi exponent Smt. Sujata Mohapatra and her talented troupe from Srjan. Each presentation seamlessly wove together mythology, devotion, and graceful expression—leaving the audience spellbound.
A special highlight was the interactive session where young attendees, especially from the Cypriot diaspora, were invited on stage to learn basic Odissi steps from the artists—creating a beautiful moment of cultural connection and joy.
The performers were felicitated by the High Commissioner with commemorative gifts, and the thunderous applause, photo sessions, and heartfelt appreciation from the audience stood testament to the evening’s resounding success.
