The Asia Pacific Museum and the Embassy of India in Warsaw celebrated International Women’s Day with Indyski Dzień Kobiet (India Women’s Day).

The Asia Pacific Museum, in collaboration with the Embassy of India in Warsaw, commemorated International Women’s Day with Indyski Dzień Kobiet (India Women’s Day). The event featured insightful lectures on the pivotal role of women in India’s nation-building efforts, including their participation in the Chipko movement, along with sari-wearing demonstrations and mesmerizing Kathak performances by Ms. Ragini Nagar and her students. A highlight of the day was the remarkable Barwy Holi exhibition, an impressive showcase of Madhubani paintings curated by Dr. Barbara Banasinska from the Museum’s collection.

Ambassador Nagma M. Mallick praised the Museum’s efforts in bringing together these diverse cultural elements to honor women and strengthen India-Poland cultural ties. She expressed admiration for the Madhubani painting vernissage, emphasizing the significance of these works, primarily created by women in rural Bihar. She also commended the Polish art curators for their foresight in acquiring this extensive collection, the largest of its kind in Europe. In her remarks, the ambassador celebrated the achievements and resilience of both Polish and Indian women. Dr. Banasinska offered insight into the concept behind the exhibition and the Museum’s longstanding expertise in Indian art.

The event also marked the 10th anniversary of India’s Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao initiative, which promotes the empowerment and education.
