The Jawaharlal Nehru Cultural Centre, Embassy of India, Moscow, organized the celebrations of World Hindi Day 2024 at the D. P. Dhar Hall, Embassy of India, Moscow.
The event was attended by students and professors from Moscow’s leading Hindi universities, including the Institute of Asian and African Studies of Moscow State University (IAAS MSU), the Russian State University for Humanities (RSUH), the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO), the Higher School of Economics (HSE), and the Moscow State Linguistics University (MSLU).
The program started with the address by the Ambassador of India to the Russian Federation, H. E. Pavan Kapoor, followed by remarks from Dr. Maxim Demchenko, Hindi professor at MSLU and Hindi Samman 2023 Awardee, Dr. Tatiana Dubyanskaya, Senior Lecturer at the IOCS HSE and Knowledge India 2023 participant, and Ms. Maria Reshchikova, Hindi teacher at MGIMO University.
The Ambassador felicitated the winners and participants of the All-Russian Hindi Essay Writing and Hindi Poetry Recitation competition, which was evaluated by the honorable judging committee consisting of Dr. Liudmila Khokhlova, Hindi Professor at IAAS MSU, Prof. Indira Gazieva, Hindi Professor at RSUH, and Mr. Ajay Sahu, Hindi Teacher at the Embassy of India School. A total of 38 participants from different cities in Russia took part in the competition.
The event also featured cultural performances in Hindi by university students, including a live performance of the song “Mehndi Laga Ke Rakhna” by MGIMO students, a skit titled “Main Jhansi Nahin Doongi,” and a live performance of the song “Zvezda Po Imeni Solntse,” translated into Hindi by Dr. Maxim Demchenko, by MSLU students.
The program concluded with an on-the-spot Hindi quiz, in which all guests of the event had the opportunity to participate and win prizes.
Ms. Madhurkankana Roy, Director JNCC, expressed gratitude to the professors, students, and guests of the event for their participation and wished them every success in their further study of Hindi.
