In Spain, more than 90,000 people have died due to Covid-19

Between 2:00 p.m. local time (1300 GMT) on Friday and the same time on Monday, the ministry reported 202 deaths, bringing the total number of deaths in the country to 90,136 since the outbreak began. According to the latest data released by Spain’s Ministry of Health, the country exceeded the 90,000 COVID-19 fatalities mark on Monday.

Over the course of 72 hours, 292,394 new cases were reported, bringing the overall number of infections to 7,457,300, while the virus’s 14-day incidence rose 267.2 points to 2,989.47 cases per 100,000 people.

Meanwhile, the number of COVID-19 patients in intensive care beds has risen to 23.58 percent, with coronavirus patients accounting for 13.4 percent of all beds.

The figures were released on the same day that students in Spain returned to school after the Christmas break, with the Health Ministry revealing that 32.1 percent of the country’s 3,350,000 youngsters aged 5 to 16 had been vaccinated.

On Monday, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez told local media that his country would buy 344,000 doses of Pfizer’s antiviral medication.
