Finnair, the largest airline in Finland, announced that fabric masks are no longer allowed on their flights.
The company released a statement stating that fabric masks are less effective than surgical masks in protecting passengers from infection. They should therefore be replaced with better options.
Accordingly, the airline now accepts surgical masks, FFP2 and FFP3 respirator masks without a valve or other masks with the same standard (N95).
We will no longer take fabric masks on flights after August 16. We will accept FFP2 and FFP3 surgical masks. You must wear a mask for the duration of your journey ,” Finnair states.
This also means that passengers must keep their masks on during the flight. Only passengers are allowed to take off the mask while they consume food or beverages.
