OMICRON CASES TRIPLES In UK.More than 10,000 new Omicron cases have been recorded in the UK, the biggest number so far, as the
total number of COVID infections has reached 90,000 for the second day in a row.
The UK Health Security Agency has confirmed a further 10,059 cases of the new variety, bringing the total number of cases detected to 24,968, up from 3,201 the day before. Another 90,418 COVID infections have been reported, putting a halt to three consecutive increases but only the second time cases have surpassed 90,000. 9,427 cases were reported in England, 514 in Northern Ireland, 96 in Scotland,
and 22 in Wales out of a total of 10,059 cases. As of the 16th of December, seven individuals had died in England as a result
of the new strain, up from a prior death toll of one
