⚠️ Important Advisory for Indian Students and Community Members in Germany ⚠️
Issued in light of recent incidents near natural water bodies
In the wake of the tragic incident at Lake Starnberg, where a 23-year-old Indian student went missing, the Consulate General of India in Munich urges all Indian students and members of the Indian community in Germany to exercise extreme caution when visiting lakes, rivers, waterfalls, or coastal areas.
Germany’s natural beauty is inviting—but safety must always come first.
Safety Precautions You Must Follow:
- ❗ Do not enter water if you are not a trained swimmer. Many lakes have strong undercurrents and sudden depth changes.
- 👥 Always travel in groups—ensure someone is keeping watch when you’re in or near water.
- 🦺 Use life jackets or flotation aids when boating or swimming in open waters.
- 🌦️ Check weather conditions before heading out—storms can form quickly and become life-threatening.
- 📞 Keep emergency numbers handy (Police: 110, Ambulance/Fire: 112).
- 📍 Be aware of local water safety rules and respect warning signs.
- 🧠 Think ahead. One wrong decision can leave families devastated back home.
Message from the Consulate General of India, Munich:
“We deeply regret the recent incidents and extend our prayers to the families affected. We strongly urge all Indian nationals, especially students, to prioritize safety and remain vigilant when engaging in recreational activities near natural water bodies. Your well-being is our priority.”
Let’s look out for one another. Please share this message widely within Indian student groups and communities in Germany. Prevention is protection.
