Strengthening Democratic Engagement & Institutional Cooperation
Ambassador met with Ms. Anna Nyqvist, Kanslichef, Valmyndigheten (The Swedish Election Authority), for an insightful discussion on deepening cooperation between India and Sweden’s democratic institutions.
The meeting underscored the shared commitment of both countries to transparent, efficient, and inclusive electoral processes—pillars that uphold the spirit of democracy. Both sides discussed the crucial role of independent electoral authorities in ensuring credibility, public trust, and fairness in elections.
Discussions also explored opportunities for collaboration and exchange of best practices in areas such as voter awareness, civic education, technology-enabled election management, and institutional strengthening.
The interaction reaffirmed the shared values of democracy, pluralism, and participatory governance, while emphasizing the importance of people-to-people ties and sustained engagement between India and Sweden’s democratic institutions.
