Due to the present COVID-19 scenario and the propagation of the Omicron variant, the Finnish government has indicated that internal border controls between Finland and the other Schengen Area countries will be imposed on December 26.
This means that under the new laws, everyone will be subjected to entry checks before entering Finland’s territory, which will go into force on Tuesday. All visitors entering Finland must show proof of vaccination or recovery, as well as a negative COVID-19 test result obtained within 48 hours of arrival.
Due to the rapid spread of the new coronavirus variant, compensatory measures under the Communicable Diseases Act alone are not enough to safeguard the carrying capacity of health care,” the government says.
The authorities have also decided to increase vaccination coverage as well as impose national and regional preventative measures, according to a joint press release issued by the Ministry of Education and Culture, the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Health, and the Government Communications Department on Tuesday, December 21.
Finland has nearly 800,000 unvaccinated people, it is critical that everyone obtains their first and second brief vaccinations. All persons wishing to enter pubs, restaurants, nightclubs, or other major events will be required to have a COVID-19 Pass.
However, since the previous measure has been extended, the government has decided that everyone in the country would be required to participate in online learning until January 16, 2022. This rule does not apply to specific situations that necessitate in-person instruction.
