France tightens rules for UK travellers

France has banned small trips to and from the UK, where the number of Covid-19 cases has reporting since the first cases of the Omicron strain were announced. The French government said in a statement that travel between the two countries is only allowed “for essential reason.” At midnight Saturday, the British government announced that “there is a requirement of essential reason to travel to and from the UK, whether they were vaccinated or not.” Given the very rapid spread of the Omicron strain in the UK, the government has decided to re-establish the need for a compelling reason to travel to and from the UK, ”he said. The announcement came a day after the UK had the highest daily Covid case at 78,610 COVID-19 cases per day. The new measures also require testing for COVID-19 within 24 hours of entering France, rather than 48 hours. Applies to all immigrants, whether they are vaccinated or not.
Individuals (returnees) must register in the app and self-quarantine for 7 days in a desired location controlled by the security forces, but this period can be reduced to 48 hours if the French “government” conducts negative tests.
