An important turning point in India’s ship building history has been reached with the launch of the first of six 3800 TDW General Cargo Vessels at Udupi Cochin Shipyard Limited (UCSL). These ships are being built for the Norwegian shipping firm M/s. Wilson ASA by UCSL, a division of Cochin Shipyard Limited under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways. This collaboration demonstrates India’s expanding proficiency and ability to construct cutting-edge marine vessels for customers around the world. Additionally, the project strengthens India’s strategic position in the global shipbuilding industry, fostering economic expansion and enhancing maritime capabilities.
