Lively and cheerful atmosphere at the International Women’s Day celebration organised by the Embassy of India in collaboration with Indian Women in Finland IWF Ry at Oodi Library in Helsinki. The theme for the event was “Women’s voices and choices – Breaking the Bias”.
Ambassador Raveesh Kumar in his welcome remarks highlighted the increasingly important role played by women in India in all spheres of life, including politics, business, sports, education and social development. He appreciated the role played by Indian women in Finland towards creating a positive narrative for India. Mrs Ranjana Raveesh underlined the need for women to have the freedom to make their own choices. 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐲𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐓𝐮𝐮𝐥𝐚 𝐇𝐚𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐧 in her keynote address highlighted the progress made by Finland towards gender equality. Mayor of Vantaa Ritva Viljanen urged the women to continue their fight for space at the top table.
Panelists – Neeta Nagar, Accenture, Jasmin Assulin, Deidei, Monika Liikamaa, Enfuce, Sanna Saastamoinen-Barrios, fashion designer, Jussi Tokola, Tietoevry and Ram Kumar, Nordcloud- shared their perspectives on empowering women in a session moderated by Vaishali Doshi.
A talk on ‘Ayurveda for Women’ was delivered by Dr. Ashwini Anilkumar.
Mini Sharma gave the Vote of Thanks.
The event, attended by over 150 people, was moderated by Ramya Sriram and Prerna Bhushan.
