Consulate of India celebrated Gandhi Jayanti on 02 October 2016. Members of the Indian diaspora, friends of India, members of the Consulate and their families participated in the celebrations. Consulate arranged for the live webcast of the inauguration of Pravasi Bharatiya Kendra and its dedication to the Indian diaspora by Hon’ble Prime Minister which took place in New Delhi. Consulate general of India, Dr. Charanjeet Singh spoke on the occasion and congratulated the Indian diaspora on the opening of a centre dedicated to them. He highlighted the role of Indian diaspora in strengthening the connections between India and their respective home countries and also the various policy measures which the Government of India has taken in recent years to address the issues of the Indian diaspora. Consulate general led the gathering in paying floral tributes to Gandhiji.
