The Center for Eastern Languages and Cultures (CIEK) at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridsky” celebrated India Day with dozens of friends and admirers of Indian civilization. Organized by the Indology specialty in partnership with the Embassy of India in Bulgaria, the Indology Foundation “East-West,” and the Devam Foundation, the event featured interactive activities for all attendees.
Guests were welcomed with colorful rangoli saying “Welcome” in Hindi and enjoyed tea and sweets. Dr. Alexander Bogdanov shared insights and his personal recipe for Indian tea. The official opening included greetings from Ambassador N. Pr. Arun Kumar Sahu, Dean Prof. Gergana Petkova, CIEK Director Prof. Milena Bratoeva, and former Ambassador Petko Doikov.
Activities included henna demonstrations by Dr. Mona Kaushik and student Greta Gospodinova, a quiz on Hindi and Sanskrit words in Bulgarian by Dr. Nikolay Yankov, and a basic Hindi writing lesson by Dr. Bogdanov. Gergina Dvoretska also joined to share photos from the event.
