Strengthening India–Germany Textile & Trade Cooperation
India in Germany (Consulate General of India, Frankfurt) organised a series of business interactive sessions on 15 January 2026, on the sidelines of the Heimtextil Exhibition 2026.
In her welcome remarks, Consul General Shuchita Kishore highlighted the steadily growing bilateral ties between India and Germany and emphasised the need to further enhance cooperation and trade in the textile sector.
The Indian textile delegation included senior officials from the Ministry of Textiles, National Jute Board, Handloom Export Promotion Council, Carpet Export Promotion Council, Cotton Textiles Export Promotion Council, along with Ms. R. Lalitha, IAS, Commissioner (Textiles), Government of Tamil Nadu.
The interactive sessions featured representatives from leading German institutions and industry bodies including IHK Frankfurt, Institute of Textile Technology (ITA), RWTH Aachen University, IVGT, and VDMA.
Discussions focused on expanding bilateral textile trade, with special emphasis on technical textiles, textile machinery, and sustainable textile products. Both sides agreed to remain in close contact and deepen industry collaboration.
Invitations were also extended for participation in upcoming flagship events — Techtextil 2026 (21–24 April 2026, Germany) and Bharat Tex 2026 (14–17 July 2026, India).
