As Omicron hits Europe, the UK believes the COVID rise is ‘very tough.’

After Netherlands announced forth lockdown and some other European countries consider Christmas restrictions, on Monday British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that he would tighten the coronavirus curbs in order to slow down the spread of Omicron if needed.

“I have to say to the British public, and I say to everybody, we will not exclude the possibility of going further if we have to do things to protect the public,” Johnson said after a cabinet meeting.
“We will have to reserve the possibility of taking further action to protect the public.”
Asked about speculation that the government would ban indoor socialising and limit tourism, Johnson said.
“I can certainly say we’re looking at all kinds of things… to keep Omicron under control and we will rule nothing out,” Johnson said.

Johnson said the situation was “extremely difficult” and that hospitalizations were rising steeply in London.

Mr Johnson also advised the British population to “take caution” by ventilating, using a mask, and washing their hands, as well as “get a booster.”
“It makes such a difference, the data is overwhelming, it’s such a great thing to do,” he added, adding that millions of individuals have yet to receive their first vaccine.
