India has extended the Covid induced suspension on scheduled international passenger flight until September 30, said the Directorate General of Civil Aviation. The aviation regulator suggested that international scheduled flights on select routes might be permitted on a case by case basis by the competent authorities. India suspended all scheduled international flights on March 23, 2020 after a surge in Covid-19-related cases. India has operated special international flights since May 2020 under its Vande Bharat Mission. India has also reached bilateral agreements to ‘air bubble’ with several countries, allowing for flight services to resume in these countries. India has signed air bubble agreements (with 25 countries), including the United Kingdom, France, Japan, Bhutan, France and Kenya. A special arrangement permits airlines to fly between the two territories.
