Austria Reports a Rise in COVID-19 Cases due to Tourists

Austrian authorities announced that COVID-19 infections have increased again after citizens returned from Croatian summer vacations.
Only 187 Austrians tested positive for the COVID-19 virus after returning from Croatia a few weeks ago. However, last week’s numbers were more than four times as high as those who had tested positive 14 days earlier, according to the Austrian Heute.
In addition, there have been 501 COVID-19 infections reported in the past week. This means that 834 Coronavirus infections were reported among Croatian travellers who returned from Croatia in weeks 29 and 30.
Prior to that, most Coronavirus infections were imported from Spain.
Austrian authorities remain concerned about all Spanish-speaking persons who have returned from Spain. However, the number of cases that have been reported since then has fallen from 322 to 262 cases 14 days ago.
