Denmark is a beautiful country that not many international students have discovered yet. It is part of the Schengen countries that consist of northern and Western Europe. However, according to QS Top Universities website which ranks its Best Student Cities, Copenhagen has been steadily climbing the chart and is now within the top 50 cities in the world.
Please note that the following essentials must be met by all applicants submitting their applications for visa.
Applicants who wish to apply for a Tourist, Transit, Business Schengen Visa and Long term visa, kindly read the information on this site carefully. The guidelines listed on this site are to help you prepare your documents as accurately as possible. This will reduce the chances of your application being delayed or declined due to inadequate or incorrect submission of documents.
Please note that you may be required to appear before a Visa Officer at The Embassy of Denmark prior to a decision being taken on your application. The Visa application centre shall help you to take an appointment for the same.
The VFS Danish Visa Application Centers will accept visa applications from all nationals, who wish to travel to Denmark, Greenland, Faroe Islands or Iceland. VFS will submit all such visa applications to The Embassy of Denmark located in New Delhi. Timing for submission of application in Delhi is 09:00 – 16:30 (tokens will be distributed from 09:00 – 15:30 ) on all working days from Monday to Friday except on holidays observed by the Royal Danish embassy.
Timings for travel agents submitting more than 4 applications: 09:00 to 11:00.
Important note to agents: Please keep in mind that all applications should be handed in minimum 15 days ahead of the intended travel date, unless extraordinary circumstances are demonstrated and approved by the Embassy. Failure to comply with the application procedures will be met by a warning. Repeated misconduct may result in cancellation of an agent’s authorization.
Note: In case of travel to more than one Schengen country, please submit your application to the Embassy / Consulate where you will be staying for the maximum number of days. In case of equal stay, one has to apply at the Schengen country which is the first port of entry.
Submission of Visa application and collection of passports can be done by the following:
“The Schengen visa application form as well as other supporting documents (e.g. authorization letters) have to be completed dated and signed by the applicant. Please note that if the documents are not signed by the visa applicant, or in case of any other discrepancies, the Danish Embassy may seek sanctions against the accredited travel agent and consider the application to be non-bona fide.”
Processing time will be approximate 16 days (including day of submission at VFS). Applications accepted at The Danish visa application centre will be submitted on the next working day to the Embassy. In case an application needs to be referred to The Danish Immigration Service, processing time can take up to 8 weeks. If necessary DIS (Denmark Immigration Services) holds the right to prolong processing time.
Collection of the processed passports from the VFS Danish Visa Application Centre can be done between 9:00-12:00 Monday-Friday (For collection of passports received from the Embassy the previous day) & 13.00-16.30 Monday-Friday (For collection of passports received from the Embassy the same day).Applicants can instantly track the status of their application online by clicking on Track your Application or by sending and SMS to VISA (space) DK (space) passport number to 57333. There will be no need to follow up with the Embassy or the call centre to ascertain when the passport will be returned.
