The Embassy celebrated Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas in Moscow to commemorate the 150th Birth Anniversary of the eminent freedom fighter, social reformer, and revered tribal leader Bhagwan Birsa Munda. The event saw enthusiastic participation from members of the Indian diaspora, Russian Indologists, academicians, and students of Kendriya Vidyalaya, reflecting the shared interest in India’s rich tribal heritage.
A photo exhibition featuring prominent tribal leaders from across India was organised, showcasing their inspiring contributions to the nation’s social and freedom movements.
Ambassador Mr. Vinay Kumar addressed the gathering, highlighting various initiatives and schemes aimed at the welfare and empowerment of tribal communities. He also emphasised the importance of learning from the sustainable and holistic lifestyle practices preserved within India’s tribal traditions.
As part of the celebration, an essay competition on the contribution of Bhagwan Birsa Munda toward empowering tribal communities and strengthening India’s freedom struggle was held. The winners were felicitated with certificates and prizes by DCM Shri Nikhilesh Giri.
