Secretary (West) Shri Sibi George met Norway’s Foreign Minister Mr. Espen Barth Eide in Oslo to discuss matters of mutual interest and avenues for strengthening bilateral cooperation.
During the meeting, Foreign Minister Eide conveyed his warm congratulations on the successful conclusion of the India–European Union Free Trade Agreement (FTA). He noted that the agreement would not only deepen India–EU economic engagement but would also create significant opportunities for expanding India–Norway trade, investment, and business partnerships, particularly in sectors such as green energy, shipping, maritime technology, innovation, and sustainable development.
Both sides exchanged views on enhancing bilateral economic ties and fostering closer collaboration between businesses and industry stakeholders of the two countries. The discussion also touched upon ongoing cooperation in areas of shared priority, reflecting the growing momentum in India–Norway relations and the commitment of both countries to further strengthening their partnership.
