Co-chaired by Russia’s First Deputy Director of the Federal Service for Military Technical Cooperation, Mr. A. Boytsov, and India’s Secretary of Defence Production, Shri Sanjeev Kumar, the 22nd meeting of the India-Russia Working Group on Military Technical Cooperation was held in New Delhi. The meeting’s main objective was to improve defense relations, especially by resolving delays in the delivery of military hardware brought on by international issues like the situation in Ukraine. Plans to expedite spare parts for Russian-origin military platforms, including the Sukhoi-30MKI, Mi-17 helicopters, and T-90 tanks, were addressed by both countries. In order to improve defense self-sufficiency and lessen dependency on outside sources, there was also a focus on increasing joint ventures and domestic production in India.
Establishing local manufacturing for essential components and replacement parts as well as investigating cooperative research and development in cutting-edge defense technology are important lessons learned. For further talks, a new working group devoted to technology cooperation was also suggested.
