Latest Germany Update on Transport Ban for Travelers coming from so-called viral variants areas

Virus variant areas are areas in which the Federal Ministry of Health, in agreement with the Federal Foreign Office and the Federal Ministry of the Interior, Building and Home Affairs, has identified a particularly high risk of infection with the corona virus SARS-CoV-2 because Certain, novel and more dangerous variants of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus have occurred widespread in this risk area The Robert Koch Institute publishes a continuously updated list of virus variant areas on the Internet at  www.rki.de/risikogebiete .

In addition to the applicable registration, test and quarantine rules, to protect the population in the Federal Republic of Germany and to limit the entry and rapid spread of the new virus variants, there is a time-limited restriction on the transport of people from the states classified as virus variant areas to the Federal Republic Germany commanded.

The transport ban affects passenger transport by train, bus, ship and flight directly from these countries. The period of validity of the regulation was extended for a further 14 days. The transport ban applies until May 12, 2021, midnight.
