To comply with a decision by the German government, all passengers six years and older who wish to enter Germany must present a negative Covid-19 test at the time of departure.

The test must be done no more than 48 hours before arrival in Germany. Antigen, PCR, LAMP and TMA tests performed at certified testing sites are accepted and test certificates must be provided in German, English or French. Self-tests are not accepted.  The testing requirement also applies to passengers who are vaccinated against Covid-19.

This applies both to passengers with final destination in Germany, as well as to passengers with a connecting flight in Germany to another destination. Only passengers with a German domestic flight and without a prior international flight to Germany are exempt.

The German Ministry of Health also provides information on compulsory testing.

Due to the German Federal Police’s instructions, passengers from high-incidence- and virus variant-areas are subject to respect extended travel conditions. According to the Robert Koch Institute, the following countries currently belong to these two areas:

High incidence areas:
Albania, Andorra, Armenia, Argentina, Bahrain, Bolivia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Chile, Colombia, Croatia, Egypt, Ecuador, Estonia, France, Iran, Jordan, Kosovo, Kuwait, Latvia, Lebanon, Mexico, Moldova, Montenegro, Netherlands, Northern Macedonia, Palestinian Territories, Paraguay, Peru, Poland, Sweden, Serbia, Seychelles, Slovenia, Sudan, Syria, Tanzania (incl. Zanzibar), Czech Republic, Turkey, Ukraine, Hungary, Uruguay, Cyprus

Virus variant areas:
Botswana, Brazil, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe

Lufthansa is currently only allowed to carry the following booked passengers on departures (or travel commencements) from the countries of the High Incidence areas

• All passengers (aged six and older) with final destination in Germany must present a negative test result (PCR, antigen, RT-LAMP or TMA) at the time of departure that is not older than 48 hours prior to the scheduled time of entry into Germany and complete an online registration on the site www.einreiseanmeldung.de
• All passengers (from the age of 6 years) with a connecting flight in Frankfurt or Munich must present a negative test result (PCR, antigen, RT-LAMP or TMA) at the time of departure, which is not older than 48 hours before the planned time of entry into Germany
• All guests with final destination in Germany must follow the local German quarantine regulations. Information about this can be found here
• All passengers with a connecting flight to a destination outside Germany must observe the entry regulations of the corresponding destination country

Lufthansa is currently only allowed to carry the following booked passengers on departures (or travel commencements) from the countries of the Virus Variant areas:

• Passengers with German nationality or passengers with a valid residence permit in Germany (upon presentation of a German registration certificate).
• Passengers of other nationalities but only if they have a connecting flight to a Non-Schengen state (exception: China) and do not leave the transit area in Frankfurt or Munich
• All passengers (aged six years and older) mentioned in the two points above must present a negative test result (PCR, antigen, RT-LAMP or TMA) at the time of departure, which is not older than 48 hours before the scheduled time of entry in Germany and complete an online registration on the site www.einreiseanmeldung.de (also valid for passenger with a connecting flight)
• All guests with final destination in Germany must follow the local German quarantine regulations. Information about this can be found here
• All passengers with a connecting flight to a destination outside Germany must observe the entry regulations of the corresponding destination country in addition to the above-mentioned obligations

Passengers from a country in the Virus Variant area with connecting flights to a Schengen-state  are requested to rebook their flights either via My bookings or via a Lufthansa Service Center.
