Indian citizens, Persons of Indian Origin, and friends of India in the UK came together to celebrate the 79th Independence Day of India on 30 August 2025 at the Navnat Center.
High Commissioner Vikram Doraiswami unfurled the Tricolour and addressed the gathering. In his remarks, he expressed gratitude to the Indian community in the UK for their patriotism and their invaluable contributions to both India and the UK through hard work, entrepreneurship, and discipline. He underlined the importance of the diaspora continuing to excel with sincerity and dedication, serving as true ambassadors of India while fostering the growth of both nations with their industrious spirit.
The celebration was graced by leading members of the Indian community. Lord Rami Ranger highlighted the diaspora’s role in advancing Prime Minister @narendramodi’s vision of #AtmanirbharBharat. Deputy Mayor of Hillingdon, Cllr Reyes Chamdal, and former MP Virendra Sharma also addressed the audience.
Adding to the vibrance of the event, Indian community organizations showcased traditional handicrafts and cuisines from across India. The cultural segment featured captivating performances reflecting India’s rich diversity of traditions and art forms. A special Ganesh Vandana was offered to mark Ganesh Chaturthi, blending devotion with celebration.
