Flavours of Bharat 2026 – Celebrating Indian Cinema in Nicosia
On 27 March, the High Commission of India in Nicosia hosted Flavours of Bharat 2026, bringing the vibrant world of Indian Cinema to Nicosia through an evening of storytelling, culture, and creative exchange. The event brought together policymakers, members of the diplomatic corps, media, film professionals, and the Indian diaspora, creating a lively platform for cultural diplomacy between India and Cyprus.
In his keynote address, Manish highlighted the remarkable evolution of Indian cinema since 1913 and its global influence today, emphasizing cinema as a powerful cultural bridge connecting societies and strengthening people-to-people ties.
The event featured remarks from award-winning Cypriot screenwriter Andry Platrites and Yiannis Xenofontos, who spoke about storytelling and opportunities for deeper cultural collaboration.
Guests also enjoyed curated trailers from popular Indian films such as Padmaavat, Andhadhun, Dangal, War, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, and RRR, showcasing the diversity and scale of Indian storytelling.
The evening also included Mehendi art, a cultural exhibition, an Indian tea experience, and vibrant Bollywood and Bhangra performances, celebrating the colours and spirit of India while strengthening India–Cyprus cultural connections.
