Team Election Commission of India concluded its successful visit to Stockholm, marking a significant milestone following India assuming the Chairship of International IDEA in December 2025.
During the visit, India chaired the Steering Committee meeting and actively engaged with member states to advance its chairship agenda. India also presented its roadmap and key priorities for 2026, with a strong focus on promoting inclusive, peaceful, resilient, and sustainable democracies worldwide.
Key discussions highlighted emerging areas such as the use of artificial intelligence in elections, electoral risk management, capacity building, and strengthening global knowledge sharing and policy frameworks.
As part of its chairship, India will convene EMB Leaders’ Summits, working groups, and global dialogues to deepen cooperation among Electoral Management Bodies. Efforts will also focus on developing model international electoral standards and documenting global best practices—reinforcing a shared commitment to strengthening democratic processes across the world.
