India in UK (Consulate General of India, Birmingham) celebrated the Curtain Raiser Event of the 12th #InternationalDayofYoga with great enthusiasm and participation from dignitaries, wellness experts, and community organisations. A unique #Yogasana #Exhibition celebrating #YogaMahotsav showcasing various yoga postures and their benefits was inaugurated by the Consul General of Romania, Madam Mihaela Savu, who was among the prominent dignitaries present alongside Deputy Lieutenants and other distinguished guests. A special booklet featuring the series of yoga events to be hosted by the Consulate in association with various organisations, along with yoga activities planned across the #Midlands and #North, was also inaugurated during the event.
The benefits of Ayurveda were highlighted, including the special Ayurveda Booths planned during the main International Day of Yoga celebration at Victoria Square, Birmingham. Consul General
Dr Venkatachalam Murugan spoke about the various initiatives of the Government of India to promote yoga globally and encouraged everyone to make yoga a part of their daily lives. Madam Mihaela Savu also appreciated the initiative, emphasised the importance of inculcating yoga and wellness practices within communities, and highlighted the significance of this year’s theme: “Yoga for Wellness, Wisdom, and World Peace.”
