Permanent Representative Ambassador Shambhu Kumaran delivered India’s National Statement at the UNIDO — United Nations Industrial Development Organization General Conference in Riyadh today.
In his intervention, the Ambassador underlined India’s strategic priorities for inclusive and sustainable industrial development:
🔹 India has emerged as one of the world’s most promising manufacturing hubs, powered by robust reforms, innovation and global partnerships.
🔹 Stronger and resilient manufacturing growth remains central to achieving the national vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’ — a developed India by 2047.
🔹 India’s Digital Public Infrastructure has transformed governance and service delivery on an unprecedented scale. India looks forward to partnering with UNIDO to take these digital solutions globally.
🔹 Inclusion and Impact will serve as the core pillars of the AI Impact Summit, to be hosted by India in February 2026, reflecting India’s commitment to harnessing AI responsibly for human welfare.
🔹 India’s interventions toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were highlighted, including major progress in clean and green energy, climate action and promotion of green hydrogen to achieve net-zero goals.
Ambassador Kumaran reiterated that India sees UNIDO as a key global partner in advancing sustainable industrialisation, particularly through adoption of emerging technologies such as AI, quantum technologies and strengthened supply chain resilience.
