On 07 May, on the 165th Birth Anniversary of Nobel Laureate Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore, Embassy of India, Copenhagen organised a musical evening wherein Ms. Dayita Datta, an accomplished Hindustani classical vocalist and educator based in US, gave a performance of Rabindrasangeet—the songs of Gurudev, accompanied by Hardeep Singh Sandhu on Tabla.
During the concert, there were songs – by Nabanita Ghosh, Geetanjali – dance performances by Nitisha, Sayanti & Pritha, inspired by Rabindranath Tagore, song from Bhanusinher Padabali – “Sajni Sajani Radhika Lo” by Ajanta, Poulomi. Purba and Bikram presented unique synthesis of powerful lyrics and earthy melodies. “Jodi Tor Daak Sune Keu” a renowned patriotic song written by Kobiguru and “Bhenge Mor Ghorer Chabi”, a puja (devotional) porjay song, influenced by Bengali folk baul style. “Women in Tagore’s Imagination”, dance drama conceptualized by Anamika, featured Poushali, Debleena, Nisha and Anamika.
Ambassador Manish Prabhat addressed the gathering and highlighted contribution of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore to the world and independence struggle of India.
